Dr. Marder, dual certified in Internal and Preventive (Occupational) Medicine, is the Director of the University Health Services the primary medical service for faculty, staff, and students at the University of Illinois at Chicago. In this role he directs programs to provide preventive, surveillance, return to work, and acute injury/illness care for the over 6,000 members of the university community. In addition he serves as Associate Director of the UIC Occupational Health Institute providing consultative services to corporate clients and individuals concern with exposures in the workplace and communities. He has over 30 years experience in the field, having served as Medical Director, Environmental/Occupational Health, of the City of Chicago Department of Public Health, and as an Internal Medicine Attending Physician at Cook County Hospital prior to his current appointment. Over these years he has continued to perform Independent Medical Evaluations on a referral basis serving both as expert witness and final arbiter for companies, lawyers, pension boards, and unions in the Chicago land area. Dr. Marder's particular interests include occupational asthma, medical center surveillance for blood borne pathogens, and quality assurance.
