Jason Tuite is a clinical social worker in Cancer Services at UI Health. Mr. Tuite works with patients and their families to navigate the difficulties that can surround cancer diagnosis and treatment. Diagnosis and treatment support includes connecting patients to counseling services, support groups, and other community resources to help cope with a diagnosis; learning how to talk with family members, friends, or co-workers about their diagnosis and treatment; and using advance directives in planning for care. Mr. Tuite also assists patients through the financial and logistical burdens of receiving cancer treatment, including finding affordable medical care, financial assistance, and prescriptions, and explaining social security benefits, disability benefits, and insurance coverage. He helps patients consider treatment options and how they may impact family, work, and other areas of life, including needs at home and connecting with other resources.
