Both primary and pediatric specialties focus on preventative health, including how to lead a healthy lifestyle and promote overall health and wellness. Primary and pediatric care providers also diagnose and treat a variety of issues, including temporary conditions, like the flu and a sprained ankle, and chronic (ongoing) conditions, like asthma and diabetes.
In addition to meeting your family’s physical needs, primary and pediatric care providers support healthy emotional development from childhood through adulthood. They can screen for, diagnose, and, in some cases, manage mental health concerns, like anxiety and depression.
Coordinated Care
At UI Health Mile Square Health Center, we are committed to providing the care you require that is convenient and efficient. Whether you’re seeking care for your child or yourself, we can help with everything from understanding insurance coverage to finding the right provider. We can also help your child transition to adult primary care when the time comes.
Gender-affirming Care
We also support our gender-diverse patients through inclusive, comprehensive healthcare. Through the holistic lens of primary care, we offer chronic disease and preventative services as well as community-specific needs. This includes gender-affirming hormone therapy, PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis), reproductive health services, behavioral health services, and connection with UI Health’s gender-affirming surgical clinic 'Spectrum'.
Providers have specific clinic availability held for gender-affirming care visits, which ensures increased availability and access. Gender-affirming team members include family medicine physicians, behavioral health specialists, infectious disease specialists, gynecology providers, and midwifery specialists. When scheduling, please mention gender-affirming care to be set up with an experienced provider.
