Substance Use Disorder Services

What is Substance Use Disorder?

Substance use disorder (SUD) is a condition where a person engages in problematic use of a substance (such as alcohol, tobacco, or illicit drugs) regardless of harmful consequences. In many cases, substance use impacts a person’s ability to function in daily life, and they continue to use the substance even though they are aware of its effects. Severe SUDs are sometimes referred to as addictions.

Substance use disorder can impact anyone, regardless of age, race, gender, income level, or social class.

At Mile Square Health Center, we provide Medication Assisted Recovery for substance use disorders. This includes evidence-based treatments, such as buprenorphine and methadone for opioid use disorder, in addition to medications for alcohol use disorder and tobacco use disorder. We also provide other services, including recovery support services, mental health care, and trauma-informed behavioral therapies, to help patients navigate this difficult health condition.
