Allergy Program
Allergies are a common chronic condition, and at the UI Health Allergy Program, we know how miserable they can be. Whether the problem is pollen that makes you sneeze, or food that makes you break out in hives, the allergists and immunologists at our clinic can help.
An Allergy Treatment Plan Tailored to Your Needs
Allergies can have a wide range of causes. At the UI Health allergy clinic, our team focuses first and foremost on getting a correct diagnosis.
We will take the time to do a thorough workup, reviewing your symptoms and medical history. We may ask you to keep a symptom diary, recording what you were doing or what you ate when you had an allergic reaction. We also do allergy testing to pinpoint exactly what is causing your body to react.
From there, we put together a comprehensive plan for managing the problem.
Your allergy management plan will be individualized to meet your needs. Depending on your specific symptoms and the severity of your allergic reactions, the plan may include immunotherapy and/or medications like decongestants and antihistamines.
But the plan doesn't just involve treatment. Our allergy team will also spend time to educate you and your family about how best to care for the allergy and how to avoid a reaction. The goal of this education is to help you minimize allergy symptoms while taking as little medication as possible.
