Dr. Dustin R. Fraidenburg is a pulmonologist and critical care physician in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep, and Allergy at UI Health. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of complex respiratory diseases, pulmonary hypertension, and advanced lung disease, caring for patients in both the intensive care unit and outpatient settings.

As Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Program and Associate Program Director of the Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship, Dr. Fraidenburg is committed to advancing innovative, evidence-based care while training the next generation of pulmonary and critical care physicians.

Dr. Fraidenburg has played a leading role in bringing new technologies to critically ill patients, including diaphragm neurostimulation therapy designed to help recover diaphragm function and support patients receiving prolonged mechanical ventilation. He also served as an investigator in the clinical research that contributed to the therapy's FDA approval and has helped implement this treatment at UI Health.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Fraidenburg is actively involved in research and medical education, serving as Co-Chair of the UIC Biomedical Institutional Review Board. His work focuses on improving outcomes for patients with advanced pulmonary and critical illnesses through clinical innovation, multidisciplinary collaboration, and compassionate, patient-centered care.
