Mission-Driven Awards
At UI Health, our mission is brought to life through the dedication and compassion of every member of our team. The ICARE Award and Class Act Award recognize staff who demonstrate UI Health’s core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (ICARE), and contribute to a positive culture throughout the organization.
Award recipients receive a surprise recognition ceremony and gifts from the Recognition Team. The recipient’s nominator, leaders, and team also are invited to attend the ceremony, where the nomination will be read as part of the award presentation.
ICARE Award Criteria
The criteria for an ICARE Award include:
- Individual demonstrates the core values of UI Health: Inclusion Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.
- Individual displays a job performance that goes beyond expected performance level.
- Individual exhibits a patient-first mentality.
- Individual is motivated and strives for excellence.
- Individual contributes to the positive culture in the department and organization

Class Act Award Criteria
The criteria for a Class Act Award include:
- Individual personifies the core values of UI Health: Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.
- Individual puts the patient first in all encounters and consistently contributes to the delivery of world-class patient care.
- Individual displays a sense of responsibility for their actions.
- Individual collaborates with others across all areas to deliver excellent patient care and service.
- Individual supports all UI Health clinic and/or department initiatives.
- Individual shares and provides relevant, timely, and accurate information, and communicates with clarity and courtesy.
- Individual fosters an environment that encourages respect, integrity, fairness, and diversity.
- Individual recognizes others for their contributions to UI Health.
- Individual is respected by their peers
